Evaporating the Seawater for Agriculture

If we take a look at the maps or globe, we will realize that our planet is dominated by the ocean. Then, we will interpret that the freshwater is the biggest natural sources in the world.

That fact is true, about 2/3 of our planet is dominated by waters rather than land. In fact, our earth has 326 million gallons of water. If calculated as a percentage, our water source comes from:

cs-table

But, did you know that 2/3 out of waters only 1% of water that we can consume?

The 1% of freshwater we consumed are coming from groundwater, rain water and surface water such as; rivers, streams, open canals, and lakes

And in most regions of the world, over 70 percent of freshwater is used for agriculture. Can you imagine how much freshwater we will have in the next 50 years? This is the reason why many organizations are researching and developing the rest of 99% of water sources in our planet.

The lack of freshwater is a serious threat to the survival of many people and wildlife worldwide and the climate change makes the water supplies becoming worse.

The World Health Organization predicts that by 2025, half of the global population will be living in water-stressed areas, where the demand for clean, usable water surpasses the amount available.

While we are in crise of freshwater, the Seawater Greenhouse project harness the power of two things of our natural resources ample supply of – seawater and sunlight.

They evaporate the seawater so it can be used for our agricultural so people can grow food in the middle of the dessert. The beauty of a seawater greenhouse is that water can be reused efficiently.
